Overview

The Young Harris College Department of Outdoor, Sport, and Recreation Studies seeks applicants for full-time, tenure-track faculty member in Kinesiology, rank negotiable. This position will serve as Program Coordinator, primary faculty, and advisor for the new Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology launching in Fall 2024. The candidate should be flexible, collegial, and have a strong commitment to teaching in an undergraduate liberal arts curriculum. Strong written and oral communications skills are essential in addition to demonstration of scholarly activity in relevant fields of study. Progress in rank will necessitate demonstration of productivity in teaching, service, and scholarship.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Teach undergraduate level courses in the Kinesiology curriculum including, Introduction to Kinesiology, Personal Training Concepts, Care & Prevention of Athletic Injuries, Nutrition for Physical Performance, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Testing & Prescription, Motor Learning & Behavior, and Biomechanics of Sports.
  2. Serve as Program Coordinator for B.S. in Kinesiology, providing vision, direction, and administrative oversight of program effectiveness and development
  3. Advising for majors in the Kinesiology program
  4. Institutional service through committee work
  5. Engagement in scholarship and research
  6. Provide insight and contributions to the vision, direction, and administrative support of the Department of Outdoor, Sport, and Recreation Studies

Qualifications:

  • Earned doctoral degree, master’s considered, in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or related field. Relevant professional experience in health, exercise, or sport science, or related professions, is preferred. This position will serve as Program Coordinator for the new B.S. in Kinesiology. Demonstrated success in managing programs, assessment, college teaching experience, advising students, as well as evidence of scholarship with a focused research plan that includes undergraduate research and active membership in related professional associations is valuable.
