Responsibilities

The Substance Use Disorder program prepares students for transfer, employment, or continued education in Behavioral Health workforce. The successful applicant is expected to:

  • Teach an equivalent of 15 credits per quarter in courses that prepare students for the SUDP/Behavioral Health field.
  • Contribute to the future vision of SUDP/Behavioral Health field at the college in collaboration with faculty, staff, and administrators.
  • Remain current in the field and participate in professional development activities that expand content knowledge and increase instructional effectiveness.
  • Perform duties relevant to the needs of the discipline/program, as outlined in the faculty negotiated agreement (e.g., curriculum development, search committee participation, departmental meetings, etc.).
  • Leading program-specific accreditation processes.
  • Engage in college and/or community service.

Qualifications

Full-time faculty are expected to have a sufficient campus presence to conduct meetings with students, conduct college business, and fulfill college service obligations. This includes a presence for face-to-face office hours, as appropriate for the course, college meetings, Opening Week and other scheduled in-service days, and departmental or committee meetings.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
  • Two years experience working in the field.
  • Current SUDP Certification in good standing.

 Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Doctorate of Social Work (DSW) or PhD in Social Work.
  • Professional or academic background as a substance use disorder professional.
  • Two or more years of experience in the substance use disorder professional industry.
  • Experience developing and implementing diverse instructional approaches using technology, service learning, or internships.
  • Experience in curriculum development and in assessing learning outcomes.
  • Experience working with grants, contracts, or other alternative project funding opportunities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication abilities with students and colleagues.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Universal Design for Learning and accessibility; and experience using a learning management system, preferably Canvas.
  • Experience teaching in a higher education setting using a student-centered approach to teaching and learning.
