Job Summary
Supervise dental students and/or residents in patient care and didactic activities primarily Endodontic procedures at WesternU Dental Center or other CDM locations. Working with clinic administration to ensure an efficient, humanistic, and patient-centered clinic operation providing high quality care to patients. Educate students according to the standards of the College of Dental Medicine (CDM). Provide direct treatment to patients in a broad range of general dentistry services as required for operational success.

Recognized knowledge and experience in a broad range of general dentistry diagnostic and treatment services . 2. Ability to interact in an effective and positive manner with individuals of diverse backgrounds,including administration, faculty, residents, students, staff, patients, and outside contacts. 4. Ability to effectively conduct detail-oriented assignments and maintain confidentiality. 5. Ability to effectively manage multiple responsibilities in an academic environment.
Required Qualifications
Qualifications Standard
1. Education: D.D.S. or D.M.D from an institution accredited by the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation or equivalent.
2. Completion of specialty program at an institution accredited by the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation or equivalent.
3. Licensure and Certification:
4. Must have active California license or be qualified to obtain licensure in California. Specialty Board Certification or Eligibility preferred
Preferred Qualifications
Preferences: Experience in clinical practice, academics and/or clinical research is desirable

Teaching
1. Supervise, assist, and teach students and/or residents in diagnosis, treatment planning, and care delivery of all phases of endodontic treatment and treatment of medically complex patients.
2. Serve as a role model and mentor for students and/or residents, providing feedback on individual performance and resources for improvement as appropriate.
3. Maintain calibration with and set an example for students and/or residents by following CDM clinical and administrative protocols and procedures.
4. Assist with the implementation of an efficient, patient-centered dental practice that supports the educational mission and financial objectives of the College.
5. Maintain intellectual integrity and strive for academic excellence.
6. Set an example of professional and humanistic behavior.
7. Display excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

1. Provide direct patient care in support of the clinical and educational missions of the College to allow the College to offer care to the community that may be too complex for students and/or residents, as a demonstration for student and/or resident learning, and to develop a patient population that will support the educational needs of the students and/or residents.
2. Maintain proficiency in the use of electronic health records.
3. Participate in the credentialing / privileging process, Continuous Quality Improvement Program and treatment outcomes monitoring, and evaluation systems related to patient care.

Duties are routinely performed in an environmentally controlled interior healthcare office. Work environment may involve exposure to potentially dangerous materials, e.g., blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, toxic substances, and ionizing radiation. Clinical environments require compliance with safety precautions, OSHA Blood borne pathogen training, and may include the use of certain personal protective equipment. Duties are normally performed in a large multi-chaired clinic. The noise level in this setting is usually moderate due to the open design of the clinic.
