Job Description
The Department of Neurology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health is seeking a stroke neurologist interested in pursuing an academic career at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
- This position is full time, 100%
- This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location.
- Applicants for this position will be considered for the following titles: Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, Clinical Professor. The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.
- This vacancy is being announced simultaneously with JR#10001796; please note that two total vacancies exist. Having two job postings allows the School of Medicine and Public Health to consider candidates on both the CHS and CT tracks.
- This position will be a dual appointment with UW Madison and UW Medical Foundation.
- This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.
- In the Clinician Teacher (CT) Track, faculty provide patient care as their primary responsibility (90%); clinical teaching is expected. The remaining 10% of time is dedicated to research, teaching and/or service, depending on the candidate's interest.
- If candidate chooses to pursue research, efforts could include clinical trials or collaborations with established researchers. Teaching efforts are typically within the context of the clinical practice and include teaching of medical students, residents and/or fellows; however, other classroom opportunities exist.
- Clinical activities include inpatient services and outpatient stroke clinics at the UW Hospital, William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital or other affiliated locations. Candidates will provide telestroke consultations with regional partners and provide neurohospitalist coverage for general neurology services. Neuro ICU staffed by neuro-intensivists.
- Teach medical students, residents, and fellows.
- Must have completed a neurology residency program
- Stroke, Neurocritical Care, or Neurohospitalist fellowship training or equivalent experience required.
- Candidates must be board eligible or board certified in one of the following: American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry (AOBNP).
- Must have a WI medical license by the start date.
- For an appointment at Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor rank on CT Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CT Track.
