Overview

This nine-month, tenure track faculty position requires teaching undergraduate and graduate-level courses in the school, developing and maintaining a programmatic line of research, mentoring students, and providing service to the school, college, university, and professional organizations. The school administers programs in Exercise Science, Nutrition and Dietetics, Sport Coaching, and K-12 Physical Education Licensure. The ideal candidate would be qualified to teach, serve, and help manage content and programming within the undergraduate and graduate Exercise Science programs specific to the human movement sciences (Kinesiology/Biomechanics).

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

A tenure-track appointment as an Assistant Professor involves:

1. Commitment to build and sustain a robust research agenda to include creation and dissemination of new knowledge.

2. Pursuit of external research support.

3. Teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate coursework.

4. Engage in professional development activities to maintain teaching competence.

5. Assist with the assessment and evaluation of programs.

6. Provide service to the School, College, University, and professional organizations and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate (by August 2024) in Kinesiology/Exercise Science (or closely related field) with the expertise and qualifications to support the Human Movement Science aspect of Exercise Science programming (Kinesiology/Biomechanics).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with students, staff, and faculty from diverse backgrounds, programs, and colleges.
  • Knowledge of the field of Exercise Science along with knowledge of the field of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Skill sets associated with use and application of common Exercise Science methodologies, teaching, and scholarly tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in developing and delivering courses and curriculum at the College level, Experience in ONLINE delivery systems like CANVAS, Ability to successfully engage in the acquisition of federal research funding (DoD, NIH, NSF) to support the Sports and Tactical Athlete Research Laboratories (specifically: Head and Neck Impact Biomechanics or Lower Extremity Running Biomechanics).
