Overview

The University of North Alabama is accepting applications for the position of Tenure-Track, Assistant Professor and Academic Fieldwork Coordinator of Occupational Therapy in the Anderson College of Nursing and Health Professions. This position will be responsible for program compliance with the fieldwork requirements and assisting in the coordination and development of a new occupational therapy program per the Accreditation Council of Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) Standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential duties will include serving as a liaison between the occupational therapy program and the fieldwork education sites by establishing and evaluating fieldwork education sites and facility standards and facilitating the ongoing development of fieldwork education sites and clinical faculty. Additionally, the academic fieldwork coordinator will be responsible for teaching occupational therapy fieldwork education courses and coordinating student fieldwork experiences. Additional responsibilities will include course development; advising program students; maintaining office hours; serving on committees as necessary to maintain and improve the instructional program; participating in appropriate professional development activities; participating in scholarly activities and departmental/individual research; participating in service to the university and the community; and instructing and assisting in the growth and success of a diverse population of students through careful preparation of course materials, effective teaching methods, and informed critical feedback on assignments and discussions.

Qualifications

  • A master’s degree in occupational therapy or a related field that is accredited by a USDE-recognized institution is required; a Doctoral degree is preferred.
  • Two years of clinical experience in the field of occupational therapy is required;
  • Two years of experience as a clinical fieldwork coordinator is preferred;
  • Current occupational therapist credential by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) is required;
  • must be currently certified and licensed in the state of Alabama or be eligible for such.
