Job Description

The Department of Health, Sport, and Human Physiology invites applications for a full time, 9-month, Instructional Track (open-rank), non-tenure track faculty position in Exercise Science, Nutrition, Health Promotion, or Health Studies for the academic year 2025-26, beginning August 19, 2026, renewable for a total of three years (2026-2029) and renewable thereafter in three-year increments. Applications are sought from candidates with a demonstrated potential or established record of outstanding teaching in at least two of the following content areas: exercise science, nutrition, physical activity psychology, health services, health promotion, social determinants of health, or cultural competency in health. Duties of this position include didactic teaching (80%) and service (20%). A minimum of a master’s degree in a related discipline must be awarded by the start date in August 2026. Requirements
  • Master’s degree in exercise science, nutrition, health promotion, kinesiology, health studies, public health, or related field. PhD or ABD (i.e., completion of all required courses and examinations) preferred.
  • Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Previous teaching experience in exercise science, nutrition, health promotion, kinesiology, or health studies at the collegiate level.
Desired Qualifications
  • PhD in exercise science, nutrition, health promotion, kinesiology, heath studies, public health or related field.
  • Previous teaching as a primary instructor at the collegiate level.
  • Previous teaching experience in large-enrollment courses at the collegiate level.
  • Previous supervision of graduate teaching assistants.
