Nature of Work:
The Department of Pathology, owns and operates an anatomic pathology laboratory and two adjoining reference laboratories focused on cytogenetics and genomics (the Colorado Genetics Laboratory, CGL) and molecular pathology (the Colorado Molecular Correlates Laboratory, CMOCO) on the Anschutz Medical Campus. These laboratories provide state-of-the-art laboratory medicine and genetic testing services using a broad spectrum of technologies, including conventional karyotyping, fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), chromosomal microarray, targeted PCR, and next-generation sequencing to name a few.
The Department of Pathology is seeking a full time faculty member at the Assistant to Associate Professor Level, who is MD, DO or PhD fellowship trained and board certified or eligible faculty in molecular genetic pathology and/or laboratory genetics. The faculty will provide scientific and clinical expertise based on their training and certification, for the Colorado Genetics Laboratory (CGL) and the Colorado Molecular Correlates Laboratory (CMOCO). Candidates with strong clinical and scientific backgrounds, experience in laboratory leadership and management, extensive expertise in clinical molecular genetics, and cytogenetics preferred. Individuals with experience in academic laboratories, and those with strong communication and interpersonal skills will be favored. This position may include opportunities for clinical and translational research, test development, and educational activities.

Principal activities will include testing result review and sign-out of clinical cases across a spectrum of cytogenetic and molecular pathology applications. Board certification or board eligibility in Clinical Cytogenetics and Clinical Molecular Genetics or Molecular Pathology are required.
• Function as an attending physician or certified scientist, within both laboratories for the review and release of clinical genetic test results across a spectrum of testing types, including cytogenetics and molecular pathology applications.
• Education of medical students, residents, fellows, and laboratory staff
• Participate in performance improvement activities, quality control and proficiency testing; assist in maintaining compliance with CAP accreditation and other internal and external regulatory standards including the code of conduct.
• Participate in applied research and development projects directed towards unique or improved laboratory tests and services
• Engagement in translational and/or clinical research
• Participate in departmental, school, and professional committees
• Participate in clinical conferences as indicated
• Salary and Benefits:
The salary range (or hiring range ) has b een established at: Assistant Professor – Hiring Salary Range: $130,000 to $220,000/ Associate Professor – Hiring Salary Range: $212,000 to $290,000
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

MD/DO and/or Ph.D. with appropriate Board certification:
Candidates must be board certified or board eligible for clinical activities in Molecular Pathology through American Board of Pathology (ABP) or in Laboratory Genetics and Genomics through American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG) with 5 years of faculty experience at academic medical center and independent research or peer reviewed publications in Molecular Pathology commensurate with rank.
