The Skaggs School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences (SSPPS) within Health Sciences at UC San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. SSPPS accepts only post-baccalaureate students, has a joint curriculum with the UC San Diego School of Medicine, and is competitive nationally for the top tier of pharmacy school applicants. Current enrollment is approximately 260 Pharm.D. Students (~70, 60 Ph.D. students, and 25 pharmacy residents. SSPPS is in the Top 10 pharmacy schools in the nation, ranked by all-time NAPLEX board exam passing rates. SSPPS is ranked in the Top 5 pharmacy schools in its research endeavors and grant funding. A large proportion of SSPPS graduates engage in post-graduate training and pursue joint degrees. SSPPS is based at the world-renowned La Jolla campus of UC San Diego with year-round access to both winter and summer recreational activities.

The Division of Clinical Pharmacy in the University of California, San Diego Skaggs School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences (SSPPS) (http://pharmacy.ucsd.edu) is recruiting for outstanding applicants for a non-tenure track position at the Associate level in the Health Sciences Clinical or Clinical X series (see links below for description of each series). The successful candidate will be expected to teach both students and residents at the didactic and experiential levels and engage in clinical practice and scholarly activities.

Applicants must have

  • Pharm.D. degree and be eligible for and/or already have licensure in pharmacy in the State of California.
  • Board certification, specialized residency training/fellowship or advanced degrees.
  • Applicants should demonstrate promise for academic achievement, including a potential for a strong record of innovative clinical practice, teaching, service, and research activities.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

– California pharmacist license/eligible for CA pharmacist licensure
– PharmD degree
– Area of clinical expertise related to pharmacy practice
– Board certification, specialized residency training/fellowship or advanced degrees
– Experience teaching both students and residents at the didactic and experiential levels
– Demonstrates high capacity for creative activity or innovative practice/teaching/research
– Demonstrates evidence of academic achievement in clinical practice, teaching, and research areas
– Organizational skills demonstrated by the application content, format, and experiences described in the application
– Leadership skills demonstrated by the experiences described in the application

Preferred qualifications

– Demonstrate innovation in teaching as it relates to past/current experiences
– Service to institution and/or regional/state/national organizations
– Interdisciplinary and/or collaborative activity demonstrated from clinical experience, projects, or publication records
– Exhibits evidence of academic achievement in clinical practice, teaching, and research areas
