Texas Woman’s University is seeking the next Chair for the Department of Communication Sciences and Oral Health which is housed in the College of Health Sciences with a presence on the Denton and Dallas campuses. The Chair oversees programs in Communication Sciences (Speech-Language Pathology and Education of the Deaf) and Dental Hygiene with certificates, bachelors, masters, and/or doctoral degrees. Essential duties include supporting 25 full-time tenured, tenure-track, and clinical faculty members, three on-site clinics, accreditation and curricular issues and student concerns, as well as serving as an internal and external liaison for the department.

Housed in the College of Health Sciences, this department has 25 full-time tenured, tenure-track, and clinical faculty members who work together alongside 10 staff members to support the missions of the programs, department, and university. The Chair supports faculty member engagement in teaching, clinical supervision in three distinct clinics (the Dental Hygiene Clinic and Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic on the Denton campus and the Stroke Center on the Dallas campus), and research. Additional responsibilities include managing all personnel, budgets, and facilities; coordinating departmental program development, review processes, curricular changes, and program accreditations; establishing and maintaining an environment to support student success; serving as an internal and external liaison for the department; and teaching departmental coursework. Required Qualifications:

Earned research doctorate and a CV that supports tenure at TWU
Current minimum rank of Associate Professor with 7 or more years of experience in academia
Proven administration and leadership skills
History of mentoring in research and grantsmanship
Certified practitioner in one of the departmental disciplines or related area and, if required, eligible for licensure in Texas

Desirable Qualifications:

Experience in guiding program accreditation and review
Strong interpersonal skills with evidence of successful interprofessional collaboration
Excellence in teaching that supports instructor mentorship
Eligibility for rank of full Professor (rank and salary to be negotiated based on experience and qualifications)
