The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, effective August 2019. The successful candidate will be committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship and service in an institution dedicated primarily to undergraduate education. Responsibilities:

Teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in area(s) of expertise such as Articulation/Phonology, Social/Cognitive Aspects of Communication, Evaluation of Communication Disorders, Motor Speech Disorders would be a plus); supervision of students in our departmental clinic; scholarship; and service to the department and college. The successful candidate may be asked to teach distance-learning courses in the future.

Required Qualifications:

A doctorate in speech-language pathology and Certificate of Clinical Competence are required. ABDs will be considered for appointment at a lesser (qualified) rank and salary, upon proof that the applicant’s defense or his/her dissertation will be scheduled within the first year of the appointment. A successful ABD applicant will receive promotion to the rank of Assistant Professor and a salary increment at the start of the semester following verification of the terminal degree completion. An ABDhire will be limited to a one-year appointment, subject to renewal for one year only (2 years maximum). A Ph.D. in communication, sciences and disorders is required for appointment as Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will have demonstrated an ability to work effectively and collegially with faculty, staff, and administrators.

Preferred Qualifications:

College teaching experience, clinical experience beyond Clinical Fellowship, supervisory experience, and an active program of research or focused research area of interest.
