Overview

Mount Saint Mary College invites applications for a tenure-track appointment to begin in July 2024 in Healthcare Management. The position includes teaching a range of courses and topics such as Introduction to Healthcare, Healthcare Regulation, Quality Improvement &Risk Management, Healthcare Operations & Administration, Healthcare Industry Analysis, Public Policy & Healthcare, and the Capstone course in Healthcare, to traditional and non-traditional students at the graduate and undergraduate levels.

We seek an individual who can maintain and strengthen the prominence that our Healthcare Management Undergraduate Major and MBA in Healthcare Management hold among our programs, help our students build a strong appreciation for and understanding of the role of Healthcare as one of the largest sectors of the U.S. economy, and who has an interest in working with colleagues to grow our programs and build relationships with community partners.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will teach a minimum of four (4) course sections per semester, at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • The successful candidate will supervise the Undergraduate Healthcare Management Major, as well as assist the MBA Coordinator with the supervision of the Healthcare Management MBA program.
  • Supervise student research projects and advise students in their academic program of study.
  • Serve on college committees, and collaborate in the ongoing review and development of the graduate and undergraduate programs in the School of Business and the College.
  • Attend community events, chamber of commerce breakfasts, and other programs to build and expand community and partner relations.
  • Demonstrate a program of relevant and ongoing scholarship, with a clear research agenda that will lead to the publishing of articles, manuscripts, conference presentations, and/or books in relevant fields of scholarly interest, as a means of advancing the mission of scholarship of the School of Business and the College.

Requirements

  • Terminal degree in business management or healthcare management and administration (Ph.D., D.B.A. or equivalent), with MPH degree or background in the healthcare field OR terminal degree within the healthcare professions (e.g. M.D., D.O., D.N.P., D.M.D. or equivalent) with an MBA or MBA Healthcare degree or have equivalent business management experience preferred.
  • Teaching experience at the college level is preferred, although teaching experience, whether at the college level or in professional continuing education and training courses, is required.
  • An understanding and support of our Catholic Dominican mission, as well as the integration of the liberal arts and professional studies. A commitment to student learning and community engagement.
