One of eight campuses of Indiana University, Indiana University Kokomo is a comprehensive non-residential campus located 50 miles north of Indianapolis in Kokomo, Indiana, a city with a population of about 50,000. Committed to student success and community engagement, the campus serves approximately 3,000 students from a 14-county area in north central Indiana. IU Kokomo has approximately 260 full-time faculty and staff. Associate, baccalaureate, and master’s degrees are offered.

The School of Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Health Sciences beginning August 1, 2024. This position is a 10-month per year term. The successful candidate will teach three undergraduate Health Sciences courses per semester mainly within the Exercise and Sport Science degree concentration. This candidate must be able to teach Motor Development and Motor Learning. The candidate must also be able to teach Biomechanics and/or Exercise Physiology. Though specific courses will be tailored to the successful candidate, the ability to teach two or more of the following would be advantageous: Introduction to Sport and Exercise Psychology; Fundamentals of Human Movement; Philosophy of Coaching; Introduction to Exercise Science. Some online teaching is expected.

The successful candidate must have a vibrant research program, which must lead to publications in reputable journals. Research with the potential for internal/external funding is an asset. The candidate’s research interests can include any area of Health Science or Exercise and Sport Science, but projects should be able to integrate undergraduate student researchers.The successful candidate will also be expected to engage in service to the campus and school, including committee work, assessment of the degree, and engaging in campus initiatives to increase retention and enrollment.

Basic Qualifications
Candidates must have an earned doctorate in Kinesiology, Sport and Exercise Sciences, or a related field, although ABDs who will earn a doctorate by August 2024 will be considered. The best candidates will be those who can document previous effective teaching in the university setting (e.g., course evaluation evidence and summaries, student feedback and comments), along with an active research program.
