Position Summary

Elon University, an independent university renowned as a national model for engaged learning, is seeking several full-time experienced faculty members to teach in the Department of Nursing’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program to meet the needs of our growing program. Elon University strives to recruit diverse faculty members. The nursing program is part of the Elon University School of Health Sciences, which also includes the Doctor of Physical Therapy and Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. Positions are 9-month, lecture or tenure-track. Elon offers a salary commensurate with qualifications, an excellent benefits package and generous retirement plan.

Minimum Required Education and Experience

• Hold a master’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution.
• Hold an unencumbered nursing license in North Carolina.
• Have two calendar years or the equivalent of full-time experience as a registered nurse.
• Satisfy the NC Board of Nursing requirements to teach in a pre-licensure nursing program.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including educational technology.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Doctorate in nursing or related field.
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to teach a variety of courses depending on the needs of the department. We also have specific needs in community/population and mental health nursing.
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching.
• Experience with simulation.
• Knowledge and experience with planning and implementing interprofessional education.

About the School of Health Sciences:

The School of Health Sciences was established in 2011 and includes graduate programs in Physical Therapy and Physician Assistant Studies in addition to the four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

The School of Health Sciences is located in the Francis Center, a state-of-the-art teaching and research facility. Faculty, staff, and students in all programs collaborate on innovative research initiatives in interdisciplinary laboratories, including the biomechanics lab. Our Interprofessional Simulation Center is a hub of experiential learning, allowing students to hone their skills in providing individualized care at the bedside, in the clinic, in the home, and in the community.
