Director of Didactic Education, Master of Physician Assistant Studies Program, College of Health Professions

Sacred Heart University seeks an innovative and highly motivated individual to join the faculty in our Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies Program (MSPAS). This full-time, 12-month, non-tenured track position includes teaching and will work in collaboration with the program director and other program faculty to ensure quality program development and instruction in the didactic phase of the program. Duties include assisting with curriculum development, teaching, didactic phase coordination, and course evaluation in addition to principal faculty member responsibilities of advising, teaching, and clinical year grading. The position will carry a clinical faculty rank based on experience.

Note: This position’s primary location is Tandet Center, Stamford, CT.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Director of Didactic Education
  • In collaboration with the Program Director, manages the didactic phase of the program.
  • Schedule all academic lectures/workshops
  • Coordinates with Academic Coordinator all of didactic phase
  • Meets with Course Coordinators and Directors to provide feedback on teaching and course evaluations
  • Assists with identifying qualified instructors/lecturers (content experts)
  • Weekly communication with lecturers
  • Exam writing and analysis
  • Exam management
  • Curriculum mapping
  • Chair – EPCC
  • Management of all didactic year grades / student progress
  • Assists program in maintaining compliance with ARC-PA Accreditation
  • Create schedules for Orientation Week for new cohort
  • Principal faculty member responsibilities
    • Advising
    • Lecture/teaching various medicine lectures and workshops
    • Facilitate various workshops
    • Clinical year grading
    • Professional license maintenance requirements
    • Serve on University committees and workgroups, and participate in community service with other members of the program and University.

The program complements graduate programs in Athletic Training, Exercise Science & Nutrition, Healthcare Informatics, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Public Health, and Speech-Language Pathology. The College also offers undergraduate programs in Exercise Science and Health Science. In addition to academic excellence, the College has a rich tradition of service learning, study-abroad opportunities and faculty practice activities.

Requirements:

  • Must be a board-certified PA.
  • Must have a minimum of a master’s degree in PA studies (or equivalent).
  • Must have current NCCPA certification and eligibility for CT licensure.
  • Must possess at least three years of full-time higher education experience at the time of appointment.
  • Knowledge of the ARC-PA accreditation process.
  • A minimum of 3- 5 years of full-time clinical work experience is required.
  • Additional requirements include excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well within a team.
  • Must be able to maintain excellent relationships with our clinical partners, and to advocate / promote the PA Program within the university, the clinical partner institutions, and the community.
