Overview

Chicago State University Department of Public Health invites applications for a tenure-track, academic year faculty position in Public Health at Assistant, Associate and Professorial ranks. Qualified applicants should possess a Ph.D. in Public Health or a closely related discipline. Preference will be given to candidates who are CHES/MCHES and hold a Ph.D. with practical expertise in at least one area of public health, such as epidemiology, health policy and management, biostatistics, environmental health, and social and behavioral sciences. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience. It is expected that the faculty member engages in teaching, research/creative activities and service.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teaching and advising undergrad and grad students.
  • Engage in program assessment activities.
  • Faculty members are expected to engage in research and/or creative activity relevant to public health which results in submissions and material as works in refereed, professional and/or general readership publications; submit and receive externally awarded grants; and submit proposals for presentations at academic and professional conference.
  • Faculty members are expected to serve on committees, at the department, college, university, professional and community levels; assume leadership roles over time and as they increase in rank.
  • Teaching in-person, online, and hybrid.
  • Experience with learning management systems (LMS) such as Moodle
  • CHES/MCHES preferred.
  • Experience teaching healthcare management and administration courses
  • Experience developing and teaching applied practice experience (APE) and integrative learning experience (ILE) courses and projects.
  • Engaging community-based organization in participatory research and program development
  • Developing and/or leading a Public Health Student Organization (PHSO)
  • Leading student research projects
  • Establishing a funded research program and adhering to all university and academic policies and assigned duties.
  • Contributing to the development of course content, assessing student learning, participating in program activities.
  • Providing student support, attending training, maintaining accurate records of student’s academic progress, and being available via phone, email, zoom, LMS and during office hours.
  • Supporting the overall mission, vision and values of the public health program.

Required Education
