JOB SUMMARY:
The Principal Faculty - Clinical, serves in the clinical education portion of the PA program in collaboration with the Director of Clinical Education. The position contributes to the development, scheduling, and evaluation of supervised clinical practice experience (SCPE) sites, ensuring alignment with accreditation standards, program outcomes and competencies. Maintains clinical site relationships, oversees student progress, addresses concerns, coordinates schedules and compliance, conducts site visits, and supports students and preceptors during the clinical phase.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinates and oversees clinical clerkships, including scheduling, site acquisition, and preceptor recruitment.
- Maintains relationships and contracts with clinical affiliates, monitors site quality, and ensures accreditation compliance.
- Manages clinical curriculum evaluation, databases, and student performance tracking, providing remediation as needed.
- Organizes student orientations, return-to-campus activities, and site visits, collaborating with faculty and leadership to support student success and program outcomes. Didactic
- Participate in the development, review, and revision, as needed, of the program's mission statement, goals, and competencies.
- Participate in the ongoing ARC-PA self-assessment process, accreditation activities or actions, meetings, and on-site evaluation.
- Engage in teaching, scholarship, and service activities as defined in the Faculty Manual.Full-time faculty members not serving as chairs of departments, directors of programs, assistant or associate deans usually shall be required to teach 24 credit hours or their equivalent per academic year.
- Develop proficiency in programmatic systems, such as but limited to: CANVAS, CASPA, Exxact, PAEA and Exam Soft, or equivalent programmatic systems.
- Serve as an ambassador for the PA Program through participation in service activities of the University and PA Program.
- Participate in the identification, recruitment, and selection of qualified applicants.
- Identify sources for and participate in the preparation and implementation of grants and contracts supportive of the activities of the University and PA Program.
- Serve on University and PA Program faculty committees as/when appointed or elected.
- Attend and participate in required university activities such as, but not limited to, university graduation, faculty development sessions, assessment day and faculty committee work.
- Attend and participate in Departmental meetings and annual retreats.
- Attend and participate in program activities such as, but not limited to, Information Sessions, Admissions activities, White Coat Ceremony, PA Graduation, and external committee obligations.
- Participate in the search process activities of the University and PA Program.
- Participate in NEASC accreditation activities as assigned.
- Participate in local, state, and national professional organizations for own professional development and to ensure program excellence and appropriateness of curriculum and instruction, and its application to clinical instruction.
- Perform other duties assigned by the University and Program.
- Current NCCPA certification.
- Current state PA licensure.
- A minimum of three years clinical experience.
- Master's Degree required.
- Higher Education experience preferred.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to multitask, attention to detail, able to manage deadlines efficiently and effectively.
- Strong computer skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Valid driver's license.
- Must successfully pass the online Defensive Driving
- Course and driving record check at time of hire and annually thereafter.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all members of the University community including students, faculty, staff, and administrators
- Ability to adhere to University policies and procedures.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and within FERPA and HIPAA guidelines.
- All new employees must complete the FERPA, Anti-Harassment, and any other required online trainings within 15 days of employment.
