We are seeking one or more term, variable time, non-tenure track faculty to join the Public Health & Recreation Professions (PHRP), housed in the College of Education and Human Services at Southern Illinois University Carbondale beginning Fall 2019. The Public Health program offers B.S., MPH, and PhD degrees.

The public health program is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). Classes in the program are taught by faculty members known nationally for their expertise in teaching, research, and professional service. All of our faculty members take great pride in their commitment to working with students. A unique feature of the public health program is the focus on rural health, projects and internships through community partnerships, give students multiple opportunities throughout their studies to work in the field of public health prior to graduation. Qualifications: The rank of Assistant Lecturer requires a master’s degree in public health or related field. The rank of Assistant Professor of Practice requires a doctorate in public health or related field. Preference will be given to applicants with previous teaching experience.

Duties:

  • Teaching assigned undergraduate and graduate courses. Areas needing coverage include: Health Education, Foundations-Theory-Practice, Evaluation in Health Education, Substance Use Prevention, and Public Health Program Planning.
  • Maintain office hours.
  • Provide assessment information as needed for relevant courses.
