The AACSB-accredited Business Administration Department in the Leo J. Meehan School of Business at Stonehill College invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Sports Management beginning Fall 2021. This person would join the department of 22 full-time faculty with a wide range of disciplinary expertise and a commitment to fostering diversity among faculty and students. This is an on-campus position and a qualified candidate must teach on the physical Stonehill College campus. The Business Administration Department at Stonehill College is AACSB accredited and offers majors in Accounting, Finance, General Management, Management Information Systems, International Business, and Marketing. The department offers minors in Data Analytics, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, and Entrepreneurship, as well as a Master of Professional Studies in Data Analytics and Master of Arts in Integrated Marketing Communications.

The Business Administration Department recently launched the Sports Management major. The incumbent faculty member will have the ability to greatly influence the trajectory of this new program. Experience in new program development is not required but is strongly preferred.

We seek applicants with a strong interest in teaching and scholarship in the fields of Sports Management, Sports Marketing, or Sports Analytics. Candidates should have the ability and desire to teach a variety of undergraduate business courses. A professional background in Sports and/or Sports Management, with progressively increasing responsibility, is desirable.

Applicants must specifically address their ability to teach the courses marked with a * in their cover letter and/or teaching statement.

Typical teaching load is three courses per semester (fall/spring) with the option to teach courses during summer and winter sessions. There may be an opportunity for the faculty member to teach in the Data Analytics master’s program, should they have the appropriate skills.

Applicants must have earned a Terminal Degree in Sports management/Sports Business, Marketing, Management, Data Science, or related field. Doctoral candidates who will have finished their degree by September 1, 2021 will be considered. A strong preference will be given to applicants who possess at least five years of both professional and academic experience in the sports ecosystem as well as experience teaching undergraduate business students.

Applicants with relevant peer-reviewed publications are preferred. The applicant must have a commitment to ongoing research productivity and demonstrate participation in the broader academic community in terms of journal review responsibilities, participation in academic conferences, and other academic roles.

A commitment to service to the Department, School, and College is also essential. The applicant must show a strong interest in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students and enjoy working closely with student advisees to establish academic and professional goals.
