The IU School of Dentistry (IUSD) Department of Orthodontics and Oral Facial Genetics is seeking applicants at the rank of assistant or associate professor for a Full-Time Faculty position. This is a tenure-track position that will provide a tremendous opportunity for professional development and a significant impact on the orthodontic education offered by the institution. The duties of this position include didactic instruction in both the pre-doctoral and graduate curriculum, graduate level clinical instruction, execution of original research with department residents, and representation on various departmental and/or institutional committees. Our department seeks to become a premiere international orthodontic program, recognized as a leader for high-quality, instruction, research, and clinical care. As such, the department is committed to excellence in academic and clinical instruction, innovative and collaborative research, utilization of best practices with current and novel technologies, and optimizing patient-centered care.

Successful candidates must possess the training, experience, and interpersonal skills to complement and effectively collaborate in a team environment. The candidate will be expected to actively interact with departmental and school administration to ensure the satisfactory attainment of pre-doctoral and graduate level educational standards. Engagement in scholarly activities is a requirement of this position and will be assessed using the institution’s promotion and tenure guidelines. With experience, this position can lead to future departmental administrative responsibilities.

Basic Qualifications

Position requirements: Qualified candidates must have: 1) completed of a DDS/DMD or equivalent dental degree, 2) completed of a Master’s Degree or a Certificate in Orthodontics from a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation, 3) the distinction: Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, 4) at least three (3) years of orthodontic educational experience, and 5) the professional credentials to obtain an Indiana dental license.

Preferred qualifications: It is preferred that the candidate possess a Ph.D. and/or dual-training in another specialty.
