The Program Director oversees the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program with responsibility for fulfilling the program's educational goals, ensuring compliance with state Department of Education standards, and maintaining accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). This role combines faculty and administrative functions, serving as a liaison between the program and college administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and organize educational planning and program operations
- Staff, train, and supervise full-time and part-time faculty
- Evaluate faculty and student performance
- Meet student retention goals; advise and motivate students
- Develop and manage the program budget
- Generate required program reports
- Ensure compliance with accreditation standards
Required Qualifications
- Active, unencumbered Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant license in any U.S. jurisdiction, compliant with the Texas Practice Act
- Master's Degree
- Minimum five years of full-time post-licensure experience
- At least three years of full-time classroom, laboratory, or clinical teaching experience
- Administration, management, and leadership experience
- Minimum 60 contact hours of professional development covering educational theory, instructional design, student evaluation, and outcome assessment
