The Department of Health Management and Informatics at the College of Health and Public Affairs invites applications for a tenure-earning or tenured position at the rank of assistant, associate or full professor to begin August 2018.
Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to teach both undergraduate and/or graduate students, facilitate programs of individual and collaborative research in at least one of the preferred content areas, obtain externally funded research, support and mentor faculty in necessary steps to secure external funding, work with the chairs and directors of other departments/schools within the college to promote the college mission, and promote a collegial and collaborative environment. Salary is contingent upon experience.
The candidate will join the Department of Health Management & Informatics, which includes the nation’s largest graduate and undergraduate programs in health administration, undergraduate program in health informatics and information management (HIIM), a fully online executive healthcare management program (e-MHA), and an online graduate program in healthcare informatics (HCI). The master’s in Health Administration (MHA) and baccalaureate in Health Informatics and Information Management (HIIM) are accredited by CAHME and CAHIIM, respectively. The HCI program is also in the process of obtaining CAHIIM accreditation. The undergraduate HSA program is certified by AUPHA, and there is a Health Management and Research track included in the Public Affairs Ph.D. program offered by the College of Health and Public Affairs. Minimum Qualifications: A terminal degree in Health Administration, Health Finance, Finance/Business administration, or related discipline, from an accredited institution is required by the start date of the appointment.
For a tenure-earning position, both presentations at professional associations and publications in relevant peer-reviewed journals are important.
For a tenured associate or full professor upon hire must have a distinguished record of scholarly achievement, research and teaching experience commensurate with a tenured faculty appointment at the rank of associate or full professor. Rank is open and all candidates are encouraged to apply.
Preferences: Candidates who demonstrate competencies in Healthcare Finance, and/or Health Administration. Successful candidates should have evidence of effective interpersonal and communication skills and commitment to high-quality education.
