Primary Purpose
To provide clinical service and interdisciplinary pharmacotherapy teaching to medical and pharmacy residents, students, clinic staff, and clinic providers. In addition, the faculty member will contribute to the education of professional pharmacy, medical, physician assistance, and other Kasiska Division of Health Science students through clinical teaching and active learning strategies. The faculty member will precept pharmacy residents while on their ambulatory care longitudinal and concentrated experiences. Additional duties include committee service, supervision of students and residents in the clinic setting, quality improvement activities, scholarship, and others as assigned. This faculty member will support the PGY1/PGY2 Pharmacotherapy Residency program director in ASHP accreditation duties and will serve as the coordinator of the Pharmacotherapy Residency Program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the Family Medicine pharmacotherapy curriculum and Pharmacotherapy Residency Program
  • Precept Pharmacotherapy and Community Pharmacy Residents on their ambulatory experience at Health West ISU
  • Precept student pharmacists on their ambulatory care APPE rotation – up to 8 students per year
  • Provide oversight to student pharmacists employed at Health West ISU or while on their Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPE)
  • Teach, using active-learning techniques, in the Family Medicine, Pharmacy, and Physician Assistant curriculums
  • Collaborate with other clinic based pharmacists on quality improvement projects or other pharmacy related projects as necessary
  • Participate in committee service and other service opportunities at the university
  • Attend rounds and co-precept adult medicine APPE students up to 10 weeks per year
  • Perform other duties as delegated

Minimum Qualifications
1. Graduated from an ACPE accredited PharmD program
2. Completion of a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency with a strong ambulatory care component
3. Clinical expertise in the area of ambulatory care
4. Evidence of interdisciplinary teaching

Preferred Qualifications
1. Completion of PGY-2 residency in Ambulatory Care, Pharmacotherapy or equivalent clinical experience with 3 years of practice experience
2. Evidence of leadership in quality improvement or medication safety activities in a clinical setting
3. Previous experience as a pharmacy residency program director and/or coordinator
4. Board Certified in Pharmacotherapy or Ambulatory Care
