The School of Public Health at Samford University invites applicants interested in serving at a Christian university to apply for the position of chair, Department of Healthcare Administration. This tenure-track faculty position is a 12-month appointment. The chair is responsible for establishing a vision for the department and providing leadership for expanding and managing the programs within the Department of Healthcare Administration. On a day-to-day basis, the chair will manage the departmental budget, work with faculty within the department and across the College of Health Sciences to enhance interprofessional education, and oversee student recruitment and advisement. Healthcare administration offers a bachelor’s and master’s degree in health administration. The chair will be responsible for leading accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME) and certification with AUPHA.
Qualified candidates will hold an earned doctorate in health administration or closely related field, along with a history of excellent achievements in teaching, scholarship, and service, and will have served as a full time faculty member for a minimum of five years. Candidates should possess strong administrative and leadership skills, effective communication and problem-solving skills. Preference will be given to candidates who have held leadership positions within health administration programs and have had experience with CAHME and AUPHA, online instruction, and prior experience developing, managing and evaluating health administration degree programs. A commitment to academic excellence and the ability to work effectively with faculty, students and colleagues is expected. Candidates must be willing to support the Christian mission of Samford University and the College of Health Sciences.
Academic rank, tenure, and salary are dependent upon qualifications, administrative experiences, previous academic teaching experiences, program management experience and scholarship accomplishments.
