Full time, tenure-track faculty position with teaching, service, and research responsibilities in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. Participation in clinical practice as well as in developing new graduate, undergraduate and clinical programs are optional responsibilities. Opportunities exist for inter-professional collaboration and community based research, practice and service in a variety of specialties and settings through the university and its community partners. Initiatives in the department encompass inter-professional education, translational research, community service, integrated clinical education and clinical specialization programs including residency & fellowship training.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experienced academic and/or clinical faculty who enjoy program development and innovation in teaching, clinical practice, research and service are encouraged to apply. Clinical specialist certification or other demonstration of content expertise in either geriatrics, cardiopulmonary, wound care, pharmacology, pathology, and/or physiology is preferred. Qualified applicants with interest or experience in any those areas are particularly well suited to join our faculty. Candidates without previous academic experience or specialty certification will be considered.
Minimal qualifications include eligibility for Tennessee State PT license; terminal doctoral degree relevant to physical therapy and teaching responsibilities; clinical practice experience; proven abilities or demonstrated potential in teaching, service and research; excellent communication/interpersonal and organizational skills.
Applicants with previous experience as full time academic faculty and/or those credentialed as clinical specialists with recent teaching experience in academic settings are preferred. Preferred content expertise: geriatrics, cardiopulmonary, wound care, pharmacology, pathology, and/or physiology. Experienced faculty across all content areas are encouraged to apply. Experience and/or interest in simulation laboratory teaching or interprofessional practice or teaching is desirable. Clinical experience equivalent to at least 3 years of full time practice is preferred.
