Ripon College, a selective private undergraduate liberal arts college, invites applications for a tenure-track professor position in the Department of Exercise Science, beginning fall 2018, at the rank of assistant or associate professor.
Responsibilities of this position include excellence in teaching in a learner-centered environment, advising and mentoring students, implementing a scholarly agenda involving undergraduate students, and service to the college and department, including assisting curricular redesign and developing community outreach. Teaching load will include roughly six courses per year divided between upper- and lower-division courses within the department, along with contributions to the college core curriculum.
Preference will be given to those with the ability to teach in two or more area of: biomechanics, motor development/control, strength and conditioning, program design, fitness testing & exercise prescription, wellness and aging, or nutrition. Qualified applicants will possess a Doctoral degree in Exercise Science or closely related field (ABD considered with the expectation that the doctorate will be completed within the first year of employment). The successful candidate will demonstrate an exceptional commitment to student learning, strong communication and interpersonal skills, capacity for cross-disciplinary collaboration, evidence of effective teaching at the college level, and a recent record of intellectual and professional contributions to the Exercise Sciences. The appointment requires possession of a post-graduate credential from a recognized sub-discipline (e.g., NSCA-CSCS, ACSM-CPT) within 1 year of hire.
