The College of Science at Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for a full-time tenure track faculty appointment as Assistant/Associate Professor and Director or Coordinator of the Health Administration program effective August 16, 2018. The program is an online completion program for students who have completed an associate’s degree. The successful candidate reports to the Chair of the Department of Health Sciences and is expected to represent the program with internal and external constituencies.
The program seeks an exceptional teacher with experience in on-line teaching and traditional formats as well as a scholar with a strong service record. A Doctor of Health Administration or Ph.D. in Health Administration, Health Management, Health Policy, or related field, is required. Candidates with exceptional on-line teaching and traditional instruction experience at the undergraduate level, curriculum development, strong evidence of scholarship through publications and presentations, experience with health service research, a record of community and/or public engagement, experience with accreditation (preferably AUPHA), and evidence of leadership and collaboration are preferred.
The successful candidate qualifications must be acceptable to our regional accreditors and will be qualified to teach the following content areas: health care law and governance; quality assessment for patient care improvement; research methods; healthcare economics; operations assessment; information systems management; managerial epidemiology; and is able to incorporate and address cultural competence throughout the curriculum. Teaching should incorporate and address cultural and diversity perspectives.
Responsibilities include course development, teaching and advising students in the major. It also includes publishing in health care management, policy or health services research, serving on departmental, college and the University committees and providing services to the community. Coordinator/Director responsibilities include building the program to a four-year degree and include a minor, coordinating undergraduate program; curriculum management; developing and securing field experience sites; coordinating internship experiences; overseeing the budget and assessment; and preparing the program for AUPHA certification. The position carries a 2/2 teaching load of upper-division required courses and is an 11-month position. Relocation is required.
