Drake University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences ( http://www.drake.edu/cphs/) invites applications for a full-time, twelve-month, tenure or non-tenure track Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor who will serve as a faculty member for a new Occupational Therapy Doctorate program at Drake University. The faculty member will be responsible for assisting in on-going program development upon appointment on July 1, 2018. They will develop and teach a variety of courses based on their content expertise.

Ongoing responsibilities include classroom teaching, student advising, college and community service, and scholarship at a level consistent with their appointment. Engagement in occupational therapy practice is possible within this position. A doctoral degree is required (PhD, SciD, EdD, or OTD, for example). The faculty member must have a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring. The faculty member must be an NBCOT certified occupational therapist that will attain licensure in Iowa at the time the appointment begins. Expertise in research, scholarship, fieldwork, mental health, public health, or wellness preferred.

Duties:

  • Prepare and present classroom materials, activities and examinations in assigned courses
  • Monitor and maintain records of student progress in assigned courses.
  • Develop and maintain a fundable scholarship program
  • Develop and monitor fieldwork and/or doctoral experiential component as necessary
  • Publish results of scholarship in appropriate professional journals
  • Act as an advisor to a portion of the population of students
  • Develop and maintain associations with professional associations and organizations
  • Participate in governance of the department, college and university
  • Perform academic and professional service to advance the college, university and the community
  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:
A doctoral degree is required (PhD, SciD, EdD, or OTD, for example). The faculty member must have a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring. Expertise in adult rehabilitation, hand therapy, orthotics, public policy, public health, advocacy, wellness, scholarship or research is preferred.
