Communication Sciences and Disorders
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) of LIU Post Campus is part of the College of Education, Information and Technology (CEIT). The CSD Department was recently listed among the top 100 programs in the United States that trains candidates at the master’s level to become speech-language pathologists upon graduation. Ours is a 58-credit academic and clinical program with a four (4) course clinical sequence that provides 400+ hours of training to qualified graduate students.
The candidate for Program Director must have an earned doctorate in speech-language pathology; have their NYS license to practice speech-language therapy in New York; and have their Teacher of Students with Speech-Language Disabilities (TSSLD).
The teaching load will be six (6) credits per semester (Fall and Spring) with three (3) credits of release time to attend to the duties of program Director who is primarily responsible for overseeing the graduate student division. This includes: new student admissions through the CSDCAS portal; and completion of the annual ASHA report required for departmental accreditation. Additional responsibilities will include academic advisement, engagement in departmental activities and events, committee work, research and scholarly activities.
Preference will be given to the candidate with pre-existing college-level teaching ability and clinical experience. Preferred areas of clinical expertise and teaching experience across the lifespan are voice disorders, motor speech and fluency disorders, autism spectrum disorders and/or research methodology.
The personnel Committee of the CSD Department will screen all candidates. The application review will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. This position is for September 2018.
