Overview

The University of the Incarnate Word is seeking applicants for a 12-month faculty position in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the Feik School of Pharmacy. This is a split-funded position with Metropolitan Methodist Hospital.

Essential Functions
Major responsibilities for this position includes teaching in the experiential curriculum and providing a clinical pharmacy service to patients with acute medical conditions. Clinical service responsibilities include monitoring drug therapy, consulting with other healthcare providers, documentation of clinical activities, limited dispensing activities, and supporting the services of the pharmacy department. Other responsibilities include teaching in the didactic curriculum, service to the University, and scholarly activities. In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
The applicant should have extensive experience in the management of internal medicine conditions and have the ability to work with students, patients, multi-disciplinary providers, and pharmacy staff to optimize patient care. Must possess the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. Employees shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.

Required Education
Applicants should possess a Doctor of Pharmacy degree with postgraduate residency training in internal medicine or pharmacotherapy, or equivalent experience.

Required Work Experience
The ideal candidate will have completed a PGY2 pharmacy residency or fellowship, or have equivalent experience in the management of internal medicine conditions with board certification in pharmacotherapy.

Preferred Qualifications
Board certification in Pharmacotherapy

Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
Applicants must be a licensed pharmacist and eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in the state of Texas. Applicants will be expected to become a certified preceptor with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy. Applicants must obtain and maintain credentialing with Metropolitan Methodist Hospital.
