The University of Texas at Arlington, Department of Kinesiology in the College of Nursing and Health Innovation is seeking applications from outstanding individuals to fill TWO open-rank, tenured/tenure-track positions in the area of PUBLIC HEALTH. This position offers an exciting opportunity to join a growing faculty and to build our academic and research programs in Public Health. In the fall of 2017, we opened a Bachelor of Science in Public Health and a Graduate Certificate in Public Health. We expect to open a Master’s in Public Health in the next year, as we are seeking final approval from the University of Texas System and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. These two positions will be instrumental in building upon our recent Public Health offerings as we, ultimately, seek full accreditation by the Council on Education of Public Health in the coming years. It is a distinctive opportunity to shape an already dynamic and expanding public health education and research program.
Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity and equity in education through their teaching, research and service. In addition, candidates in their early career must demonstrate strong potential to obtain external funding, while more established candidates must demonstrate active, externally-funded research agendas.T
PHD in Public Health. While all areas of Public Health research will be considered Preference will be given to those with an academic interest and research background in disciplines encompassed within Urban Health, as we build our graduate programming around this concentration. Ideal candidates will have a broad understanding and interest in multidisciplinary studies of how social determinants of health affect the health of urban populations. Relevant research backgrounds may include evaluation, health disparities, social determinants of health, and social and economic development, among others.
The Department of Kinesiology is particularly interested in individuals who can make a significant contribution to the department’s overarching theme of programming and research in health and disease across the lifespan with a Public Health: Urban Health focus.
