This is an EPA (exempt from the State Personnel Act) position. The Department of Public Health Education at North Carolina Central University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. Candidates should be able to teach courses in health communication, program planning, and community-based health education interventions. Beyond teaching, responsibilities of the position include advising students; developing and maintaining an active, funded research program; and service to the academic, professional and lay communities.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of the philosophy, principles, and practices of public health and health education; excellent teaching and advising skills; ability to plan and conduct behavioral and/or social science research; grant-writing skills and the ability to secure extramural funding; superior oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse faculty, staff, and students; a commitment to diversity and inclusion in fulfillment of the University's mission.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum qualifications include: a doctorate in health education or related field and experience in community-based public health education. Preferred qualifications include: successful college/university teaching experience; record of scholarly accomplishments including publications; success in obtaining extramural funding, and CHES certification.
