The Department of Community Dentistry within the School of Dental Medicine, Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland Ohio, invites applications from exceptional candidates for a tenure tract Assistant/Associate Professor position. The desired Assistant Professor applicant should be capable of establishing and maintaining an independent research program. The desired Associate Professor applicant should have a national/international reputation and a demonstrated track record of having established and maintained an independently funded research program. Applicants should be focused on the psychosocial issues related to oral health disparities research, particularly in at-risk, underserved, and special needs populations.
The Faculty of the Department of Community Dentistry and other researchers within the School of Dental Medicine comprise a diverse group of individuals with expertise in epidemiology, public health, nutrition, genetics, imaging, and a number of basic science specializations. We are actively seeking colleagues with complementary expertise in the psychosocial aspects of oral health disparities research. Desirable candidates will:
* Have 3-5 years of post-doctoral experience;
* Possess a strong background in dentistry;
* Have extensive experience in obtaining funding for and conducting a variety of clinical trials, particularly community-based and multi-site endeavors; and
* Demonstrate experience in administrating a multi-disciplinary research center.
Candidates with a community dentistry background and having previous clinical experience with child, adolescent, or family counseling are particularly encouraged to apply.
Opportunities exist for collaborations with investigators within the department and other departments of the Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Social Sciences, and with an international group of oral health disparities researchers. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the teaching mission of the department including instruction in the graduate and DMD curricula.
Appropriate candidates will have obtained a DDS, DMD, or RDH, as well as a PhD in a social or behavioral science.
