The Position

Pasadena City College is hiring a full-time, one year temporary Radiologic Technology Instructor commencing with the 2010-2011 academic year.

The Responsibilities of the Radiologic Technology Instructor

Teach classes as assigned in radiologic technology. Primary teaching responsibilities will include lectures and laboratory sessions in Ethics, Radiation Physics, Special Procedures, Fluoroscopy, and Exposure Techniques Secondary responsibilities include teaching laboratory sessions for other radiologic technology courses and supervising students in clinical settings Share responsibilities for program operation, student recruitment, program accreditation, and similar activities Keep current in the field of radiologic technology and teaching techniques by attending conferences and workshops in addition to self-study Serve as the program’s clinical coordinator Undertake the divisional and professional responsibilities of a regular faculty member

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree AND two (2) years of related radiologic technology experience (Degree must be posted by July 21, 2010.) Some degrees may require equivalency. It is the applicant’s responsibility to provide documentation necessary to support equivalent qualifications.)
Minimum of one (1) year of experience as an instructor in a JRCERT accredited program Possess current CRT (Diagnostic Radiology and Fluoroscopy) and ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologist) certificates Teaching experience, preferably in Ethics, Physics, Special Procedures, and Fluoroscopy Ability to work in a multiethnic environment with students who have a variety of learning styles and abilities

Professional Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Proficiency in curriculum development, supervision, instruction, evaluation, and counseling
Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students

The Assignment

Ten Months, 100% - One year temporary position beginning fall 2010 semester.

Thirty-four (34) hours per week teaching (includes in-class and preparation time), plus conference hours and hours for professional growth and development activities, college governance, and other professional responsibilities. The college has two 16-week semesters and both summer and winter intersessions. The Division offers a full range of courses beginning at 7:00 a.m. and ending at 10:20 p.m. Faculty must be available to teach anytime within those hours.
