POSITION SUMMARY
The faculty shall perform his/her duties and responsibilities in collaboration with the Executive Dean of Instruction and the Dean of the Health Sciences, Education and Wellness Institute. The instructor is responsible for:
* Teaching in the Diagnostic Ultrasound program.
* Overseeing program standards required of a CAAHEP-JRCDMS accredited program.
* Participating in college governance activities.

TYPICAL DUTIES:
* Promote teaching and learning in diagnostic ultrasound courses, including classroom, on-campus lab and clinical settings.
* Utilize a variety of teaching and learning strategies and innovative techniques including integration of technology to assist students in the achievement and assessment of learning outcomes.
* Assess and evaluate individual student learning outcomes including cognitive, technical and behavioral skills and abilities, and provide timely verbal and written assessments of student performance.
* Review content of assigned courses and integrate content relevant to the latest research developments, recommendations, and practice in the field.
* Assist faculty/clinical coordinator with scheduling students for clinical assignments.
* Maintain effective communication with faculty, staff, and students.
* Assist in marketing efforts directed toward both prospective students and health-care partners.
* Participate in the advising of students, including but not limited to advising students in the program and those students seeking entrance or considering diagnostic ultrasound as a career.
* Contribute to college governance through participation on college/institute/program committees and through individual projects to facilitate institutional effectiveness.
* Participate in professional development activities in order to maintain professional qualifications and competency in ultrasound education as well as professional technical faculty certification.
* Provide leadership in curriculum development, program review, assessment, and evaluation required for program improvement and overall effectiveness as well as JRCDMS accreditation standards.
* Participate in program accreditation activities, including annual reports, self-study, site visitation, and on-going communication.
* Perform other pertinent contractual duties and functions that may be assigned by the HSEWI Dean, the Executive Dean or the President.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Possess American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certification.
* Hold credentials/specialties required for instruction: General Sonography (Abdomen, Superficial Structures, Obstetrics, Advanced Obstetrics/MFM, Gynecology).
* A minimum of two years of clinical experience as a diagnostic medical sonographer or cardiac sonographer and/or vascular technologist.
* Associate's Degree.
* Documented successful clinical teaching experience.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's or Master's degree.
* Certification in Vascular Sonography.
* Prior classroom and/or clinical teaching experience in a community college setting.
* Desire to support a philosophy of education appropriate to the community college setting.
* Desire to promote excellence and innovation.
* Demonstrated commitment to personal and professional development.
* Demonstrated awareness of current trends/issues related to the profession, and involvement in community and professional organizations.
* Understanding of concepts related to teaching and learning theory, curriculum development, and assessment of learning outcomes.
* Demonstrated commitment to student success and ability to foster a positive and caring learning environment that is culturally diverse.
* Demonstrated ability to relate to individuals of diverse ages, backgrounds, and abilities.
* Demonstrated ability to use a computer, word processing and spreadsheet software, and email.
* Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
* Effective team player.
