Title Assistant Academic Specialist - Sports Leadership

Description Responsibilities
The College of Professional Studies has developed, in partnership with Northeastern's Sport in Society, an innovative graduate program in Sports Leadership. The program is offered in a variety of formats including online and hybrid and also includes a summer residency course. The program is practitioner focused integrating core competencies with an opportunity to design the program within a specific area. The program integrates a project-based approach with rigorous academic work.

The College seeks a non-tenure track academic specialist who will work with the program office on administrative issues as well as teach a full time load of 36 quarter hours. Actual course load will vary with other responsibilities, which might include curriculum development, program evaluation, reporting, and faculty recruitment and mentoring.

Responsibilities Include: teaching performance, student advising, developing course content and materials, curriculum review and updating, supporting admissions and recruiting activities and serving on faculty and college committees. Nights are required with some weekends possible.

Qualifications
This position requires a commitment to teaching excellence and a high-level of student service. A strong record of teaching experience appropriate at the graduate level is expected and required. Substantial real-world professional experience within the field is critical. Candidates should hold an appropriate terminal degree along with documented success with online teaching.

Additional Information
This is a non-tenure track, renewable position.
This position is planned for a July 2010 hire date.
